Herstory

The Alpha Rho Chapter of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. was established in the Spring of 2013 by four women, Jennifer Arcilla, Jacqueline Restrepo, Isabel Argoti, and Vanessa Villalobos, who found the need for a stronger voice and bigger representation of Latinas and women at the University of Virginia. As Señoritas, we have expanded the Latino community on grounds and continuously display our leadership. We pride ourselves through our goals and ideals as we grow professionally and personally -Hasta La Muerte!

Alpha Line

The Alpha Line holds a special place in Alpha Rho history as the founding line that set the standard for everything to come. As the first to establish the chapter’s presence, they laid the groundwork through leadership, resilience, and sisterhood, turning vision into reality and creating a legacy that future lines continue to build upon.

Eta Line

Eta Line made history as the chapter’s first SO1O line, demonstrating independence, strength, and growth within Alpha Rho. Her journey marked a new era for the chapter, showcasing confidence, unity, and the continued evolution of sisterhood.

Theta Line

Theta Line holds a powerful place in Alpha Rho history as the REVIVAL line, bringing renewed energy, resilience, and purpose to the chapter. Their return marked a new beginning, reigniting the spirit of sisterhood and setting the stage for Alpha Rho’s continued growth.

Kappa Line

Kappa Line made history as the chapter’s first all first-year line, taking on the challenge of joining Alpha Rho at the very start of their college journey. Balancing growth, commitment, and sisterhood, they demonstrated resilience, discipline, and strength beyond their years, emerging as a powerful new generation within Alpha Rho.
